My God is Sufficient
“I know how to be brought low, and I know how to abound. In any and every circumstance, I have learned the secret of facing plenty and hunger, abundance and need. I can do all things through him who strengthens me.” - Philippians 4:12-13
Have you ever experienced a hard circumstance or a day where you thought to yourself “How can I get through this?”? I have had a few days like that in Thailand, but they end up being the best days because God’s power is sufficient, and He is always more glorified in my weaknesses. The beauty of these moments are that they challenge us to lean on God’s strength, rather than on our own strength.
I have not written a blog in a while because if I am being honest, I have felt overwhelmed by the idea of writing one. There have been too many amazing God moments each day and it felt daunting to summarize everything into a blog post. So, this blog won’t be that. Instead I want to share about an average day in my life, to show you how extraordinary my Lord is.

Today, I woke up feeling very tired due to poor sleep last night. I knew it would be one of those days where God would have to sustain me, because I was just too tired. Around 8am my team and I left our house to attend a sports science workshop at a nearby sports university. But this was no ordinary workshop, it was run by a Christian coach from the Philipians named, Coach Clod. He works for AIA (Athletes in Action) and uses his job as a coach to travel around the world and share the Gospel at universities. Overall, this workshop was very fun. We were able to meet and hangout with a lot of students and watch as another one of our friends, P’Sao, (who is the National Director of AIA in Thailand) shared the Gospel, using this bracelet of 4 symbols ⇩

After the workshop, around 4:30pm we headed over to Tha Pae Gate (a very busy, touristy night market).

My team and I have been joining a Christian outreach at Tha Pae Gate where we sing worship songs in public, hand out Gospel tracks, and have deep, spiritual conversations with people from around the world.

And today we brought our close friend, P’Thap, to join us. He is a junior at the sports university, studying to become an athletic teacher. We only met about 2 months ago, but he already feels like a brother to us. He’s a Christian and very hungry to honor and grow closer to God.

Once we arrived at Tha Pae Gate, I immediately felt even more tired than before, and I hate to admit it but I didn’t really want to be there anymore. I knew though that I needed to be there and so I kept praying, “God I need you”, “Jesus sustain me.” And like always, He answered me. It took my surrender of, “I literally can’t do this without you, Lord”, for Jesus to step in and give me the strength I needed to serve Him at Tha Pae Gate tonight. Tonight looked a little different too, because usually we set up a table at the entrance of the night market, but there happened to be two basketball games going on for some type of fundraising advent. So, our group had to change plans and set up outside of a McDonalds. While everyone else sang worship songs and handed out Gospel tracks outside of McDonalds, Kamise and I went to the Basketball games in hopes of talking to some athletes about Jesus. We spotted two girls wearing familiar blue, Chaing Mai jackets that were from last year’s Thailand National Games (Thailand National Games are basically the equivalent of the Olympics but for Thailand) and so we decided to walk over to ask if they played any sports in it. They were so sweet and we talked to them for a while until Megan and P’Thap showed up with Gospel tracks in their hands. And P’Thap was even able to share the Gospel with them in Thai, using the Gospel bracelet I mentioned above! (Side note: P’Thap had just learned how to use the bracelet 20 mins before).

God definitely worked through P’Thap tonight, because he shared the Gospel with a lot of students from his university, who happened to be at the basketball games. I was encouraged by watching him because he was willing to risk his reputation and risk people making fun of him for being a Christian for the sake of the Gospel (because most Thai people believe that to be Thai, you have to be Budist). Later Kamise, Megan, P’Thap, and I went back to our group at McDonalds and joined the worship for the rest of the night! And before I knew it, it was time to pack up and head home around 11pm. Tonight was a success because God was present, and we were just working alongside Him. So many people heard the Gospel tonight and even some Christians were deeply encouraged by us worshipping in public. I could not have had the energy to make it through today without Jesus. He is my Rock and when I build my days on Him, I will not be shaken. Everyday, I am just in awe of the goodness of God. If you ever have a day like mine where you think to yourself, “how can I get through this day?”, turn to Jesus, His power is sufficient and He is your hope.
A question to leave you all with - Like P’Thap today, how can you be a Christ-like example and light in your community this week? Living for Jesus isn’t always easy, it's tiring, and outside of your comfort zone, but God satifices you amidst feeling burnt out. God is more than able to give you His strength to keep living on mission for Him. Jesus is worth it all. I pray you would give all of you to live for Him. Amen.
Prayer request:
In a little less than 3 weeks, my team and I are leaving Thailand and are moving on to Croatia. Pray that we would not be too heartbroken when leaving and that God would protect us while we travel to Croatia.
Pray for the students and people we have built deep friendships with in thailand. Pray that God would water the seeds that have been planted and that they would come to know God and walk with Jesus.
Pray for restful sleep for me and my team.
Pray that my team and I would look to Jesus and run the race He has specifically put in front of us.
Pray for my future and pray that God would lead me on what I should do after this Gap year… I have a huge heart for the nations and I would love to pursue ministry, but I need God to open doors and give clarity on where He wants me.
Pray for the war going on in Myanmar - It is a devastating situation where thousands of kids have been leaving their families and their country to seek education and safety in Thailand and other surrounding countries.
Pray for my dear friends, who are Thai AIA (Athletes in Action) staff here, their names are P’Cee, P’Sam, and P’Sao. They are struggling financially and asked for prayer that God would provide. If you feel lead to donate, here is P’Sao support link: https://give.cru.org/2400712?fbclid=IwY2xjawGVpHlleHRuA2FlbQIxMAABHYSW_UojXboDKrUWakhpTm3yfgO6TfojsKzYueIcKP5YqtZYaAB6jQ-blA_aem_2FwuVvauFE9A566whIolqg
